The location of Rodeway Inn in Lemon Grove is convenient, with plenty of places to eat nearby. I felt safe wandering around the area, which was a plus. However, the check-in process was quite frustrating. The staff seemed indifferent and unhelpful, and checking in took longer than expected because they questioned my service animal documents, which is against the law. The first room I received had a terrible smell, prompting me to ask to be moved, but there was confusion about the appropriate types of rooms. Once I was moved, I still faced issues. My new room had a broken fridge and no hot water, supposedly due to city issues. The overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel severely lacked, with housekeeping not coming by at all during my stay. The blanket in my room even smelled, and despite asking for replacements, there was no response. It was really disappointing considering the price of the hotel. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless serious improvements are made.

missingWrote a review on Jul 26convenient accessnew renovationsminimalistic layout
Location near the 94 freeway provides easy access to downtown and attractions like Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo. Rooms feature new renovations, including a TV with good digital channels and a fridge for added convenience.
Parking can feel cramped and check-in is often through a night window, making it seem less inviting. The room layout is minimalistic, with harsh lighting and only one electrical outlet located awkwardly by the ironing board. Although the bathroom was spacious, it also lacked basic amenities like a microwave, which could make stays less convenient. Noise from upstairs and outside can be bothersome, diminishing the quiet atmosphere.

Lemon Grove's culinary scene is pure magic, with Cotijas Mexican Food just a hop away for killer tacos that'll have you drooling! Plus, breakfast bars were decent, giving me the fuel to explore. The comfy bed made my stay a cozy retreat, while the location near fast food joints kept my cravings at bay! Cocina heaven!
While I enjoyed my taco fix, the AC unit was a total buzzkill, and the floors could use some serious TLC—felt like I was walking on a dusty road. The staff seemed a bit over it, which put a damper on things. Everything else feels like a missed connection!
